Runescape Guide to Making Money

Runescape, what's it all about? Some say killing monsters, some say doing quests, some say getting levels up, some even say talking to other players. The truth? Money. Runescape is all about making money. Not the nice green stuff but the "gp" the gold pieces! This is our guide on how to turn the "gp" to the "K" and then onto the grand "M".

These are a few of the easiest ways to get rich quick:

Monster Killing

Monsters, the name given to all creatures in runescape. When a monster is killed it will drop some various items. These items could vary from bones to a dragon chain! By sellin these items in the Runescape marketplace you could make a tidy sum.

Who said that violence gets you nowhere? By killing other creatures or monsters we can make a tidy sum of cash. It tends to be 90% of the time that the higher level a monster is the better drops it will have. This would mean that killing a man (level 2) might give me bones and 15gp. Whereas, killing the kalphite queen (level 333) might give me bones and a dragon chain.

Kalphite Queen - Combat level 333 Man - Combat level 2

Obviously if you have just started the game, trying to tackle high level monsters would be a big mistake. Start low then work your way up to the top. By getting your combat level up, your are widening the choice of monsters you could kill for rare and good items.

Another point to touch upon in this subject is Player Killing or PKing. This is when you kill or attack other players in the wilderness. This could make you very rich indeed. For example, if you kill a player who is wearing god armour then you could end up very rich. If somekills you you could end up with a big loss. Pking is very much a big gamble.#

Clue Scrolls

Clue Scrolls, more than just a mini game? Definitely. Clue Scrolls or Treasure Trails are the name given to the scrolls dropped by monsters. These scrolls will have a clue, co-ordinate or puzzle that leads you to the next clue. This clue will do the same, then the next clue etc. There will be a random number of clues, might be 3, might be 9. At the end of the clue you will get a casket. When you open the casket it will have money and/or items inside. This is the prize! Different clues have different levels. Level 1 being the easiet, 2 the next hardest and 3 the hardest. Obviously, the higher level a clue is, the better the prize. See the table below.

Level 1 Clue

  • Black armour (normal, trimmed, gold trimmed)
  • Berets
  • Highwayman masks
  • Wizard boots

Level 2 Clue

Skills

Making money from skillsis very simple. The most used one is mining. Mine ores, smith them into items, sell the items. Very good and effective. A plus is that it gets levels up as well! When you can mine and smith rune, the easiest to smith (rune axe) will sell 4 30k! Very good money for easy work.

Another good skill is fletching. By high alcing yew long bows you can get very rich very quick. This is the most widely used mehod to date. To combine mining, smithing and fletching; mine ore, smith arrow heads, make arrows. Sell the arrows and voila! You get good cash and 3 levels up all in one!

The last skill I will talk about is runecrafting. If you can craft good runes like natures, you can sell 1k of them for an average of 400each. Thats 400k! It doesn't leave much to the imagination, but 2k will get u 800k, 3k 1.2mil and 4k1.6 mil. They might even sell for more!

Any skill which you have got to a good level can be used to make money very easily. Just use it then sell the products, or even use them to gain xp in other skills.

Trading

Trading is a big thing in Runescape. By buying something cheaper than its value then selling it for more than its vlaue you can make a tidy profit. A typical trader after a good profit might do something like this.

  • By full adamant armour for 30k
  • Trade the armour for a dragon mace worth at least 40k
  • Trade the dragon mace for a rune plate
  • Sell the runeplate for 80k

This would leave the trade with a profit of 50k. Of course it is all one big gamble, but it could work out in the end.

So good luck with your trading, make a profit and have fun!
